Although car hire is advised to explore the rest of the Turkish Coastline and unspoilt historical hinterland, all our villas are only a short distance walk from local shops and restaurants.

Beaches and boat trips

Exploring The “Turkish Riviera” by car, boat or bicycle is highly recommended.

Daily trips operate from Gokova, Akyaka, Marmaris,  Koycegiz and Dalyan , alternatively you may decide to charter a private boat.

Across Koycegiz Lake and down the river to Dalyan, there are boat trips calling in at the thermal springs and mud baths of Sultaniye. Cruise past the stunning Lycian Rock Tombs of Caunos, then continue onwards to the Mediterranean Sea and the long stretch of golden sand known as ‘Turtle Beach’. This is a protected beach managed by the Environment Agency, because of the Loggerhead Turtles which come ashore at certain times of the year to lay their eggs.

The secluded bay of Ekincik (where an exclusive marina regularly hosts Prince Charles and his yacht!) is reached by a road featuring stunning views as it winds round the lake and over the mountain. The beach itself is a sandy bay fringed by pine forests and has excellent facilities run by Köyceğiz town council. The food is excellent and the view superb.

From Marmaris, there are romantic moonlight cruises as an alternative to night clubing or to simply watch the stars.

Istuzu Beach, at the far end of Turtle Beach and accessible by road, is particularly beautiful. The amenities are excellent and the surrounding pine trees provide plenty of shade. On the way to the beach you pass through the pretty riverside town of Dalyan, which is a lovely place to sit by the river with views of the Caunos Rock Tombs.

Restaurants:

There are local restaurants that serve traditional Turkish dishes within walking distance to all our villas. There are also take-away shops that are open 24 hours.

We highly recommend you to try one of the restaurants by the Azmak River in Gokova-Akyaka or in Yuvarlak Cay near Koycegiz.  These  restaurants are very famous around the region, serving a whole range of dishes from speciality kebabs to wonderful seafood. With all the stews and famous mezzes, vegetarians will never get bored.
